Job Responsibilities

As the A/V Engineer for HEATWave House Band, your responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of audio and visual elements during performances and rehearsals. Your duties include:


1. **Maintaining a Quiet Stage:** Ensure that the stage environment remains quiet during performances and rehearsals to minimize unwanted noise interference, preserving optimal audio quality.


2. **Inner Ear Monitors with Talkback:** Set up and manage Inner Ear Monitor systems with talkback functionality, facilitating clear communication between the music director and band members during performances.


3. **Band Members' Monitor Mix Access:** Provide band members with access to their own monitor mix hardware or app, allowing them to control their individual monitor mixes and adjust their audio levels according to their preferences.


4. **Stereo Line for Stems:** Run a stereo line for stems to facilitate playback of pre-recorded tracks or additional musical elements during performances, seamlessly integrating with live music.


5. **Direct Audio Line into Video Sources:** Establish a direct audio line into video sources to ensure high-quality sound reproduction for video recordings or live streams, enhancing the overall audiovisual experience for viewers.


6. **Multitracking Every Performance & Rehearsal:** Record multitrack audio for every performance and rehearsal session, enabling post-production editing, mixing, and analysis to enhance the band's sound quality and performance.


7. **Stage Lighting Coordination:** Coordinate with lighting technicians to synchronize stage lighting effects with the band's performance, creating a visually engaging and immersive experience for the audience.


8. **Assisting with Set Up, Sound & Line Checks:** Collaborate with the technical team to set up audio and visual equipment before performances and rehearsals. Conduct sound and line checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment and optimal sound quality.


9. **Breakdown:** Assist with the breakdown of audio and visual equipment after performances and rehearsals, ensuring that all equipment is safely packed and stored.


10. **Mixing and Blending House Sound:** Take charge of mixing and blending the house sound during performances, ensuring balanced levels and optimal audio quality for the audience.


11. **Providing Venue or Event with Images:** Coordinate with the venue or event organizers to provide images for video walls and/or projector screens, enhancing the visual aspect of the performance.

Experience Requirements

To excel as the A/V Engineer for HEATWave House Band, we require the following experience:


1. **Proven Experience:** Demonstrated experience as an Audio/Visual Engineer, preferably in a live music or entertainment setting. Previous experience working with bands or musical ensembles is highly desirable.


2. **Technical Proficiency:** Proficiency in operating and maintaining audio and visual equipment, including sound mixing consoles, microphones, amplifiers, speakers, video projectors, and video walls.


3. **Sound Reinforcement Skills:** Strong understanding of sound reinforcement principles, acoustics, and signal flow. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to audio systems quickly and effectively.


4. **Multitrack Recording Experience:** Experience with multitrack recording techniques and equipment, including the setup and operation of recording devices and software for capturing live performances and rehearsals.


5. **Stage Lighting Coordination:** Familiarity with stage lighting equipment and techniques, including the coordination of lighting effects with live performances to enhance the visual experience for the audience.


6. **Communication Skills:** Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with band members, music directors, venue staff, and other technical crew members.
